Last week, I found two members in the center to join the study group, and we carried on our meeting again. The discussion with new members was smooth, I was really happy that I found someone to share the same desire.

One of my Korean friends, BJ, two months ago, suggested we have a study group; we invited some people to join and got together twice a week. Each time, we talked about different topics, from global warming, art, tourist attraction to ice cream shops. But very soon members went back to their countries one after one, suddenly, there were only two guys left in the group, then we stop meeting because it was pretty quiet.

It was a great experience to discuss some certain topics with people from different countries. I remember once we talked about “Art”. Marco from Italy shared his passion for architecture, I shared a story of Shanghai Acrobatic Troop, I was glad to introduce the honor in my culture to foreigners. Another Korean girl, Eun Sun shared the history of manicure and nail care, she even showed us her newly painted nails, I admitted it was beautiful, but I’d never considered it an art before. Then BJ talked about the job of racing girls in a car racing game, how pretty young girls have been picked up and packed up with stretch top and mini skirt, waving flags and holding umbrellas for racers. It was very difficult for ladies in the group, for a moment there was a small fighting for the male-oriented perspective. However, it was so interesting to know how many different definitions for different nations and genders. I realized how important it is for us to keep exchanging ideas, we are going to know one another more and more, so that we could one day make this world a better place without misunderstanding caused by distance and misleading.

I moved last week, from the Bronx to Jackson Height, Queens. It’s a typical residential neighborhood, a better price is the only point. As a matter of fact, it still costs a whole bunch of money. It almost pushes me to live close to my bones, the more money I spend, the more desperate I am. Now I kind of understood why people call it Gotham. The city is appealing, I already traded almost everything substantial/material of mine to come here, gradually I don’t mind to trade something more for staying longer, perhaps something spiritual. Because I just can’t get enough of New York.
