Friday afternoon, I was studying in the Center. Concentrating on a text book is something extremely hard, I fell asleep again and again after reading a couple of pages. Altoids peppermint and Starbucks coffee were so useless. I thought the reason was because Friday night is coming, and I am going out with Misato.
Misato just came back, she was sick for a week. Blame the trip to Hamptons last week, I hurt my foot, but poor Misato caught a cold and suffered from fever. Anyway, my plan for Friday night was perfect. We will have dinner at a Malaysian restaurant in Chinatown and go to the Rooftop Film Festival in Brooklyn. The movie is “Blind Pig Wants to Fly” by an independent movie maker. What an interesting movie name.
The Malaysian restaurant was ok for me, but apparently was not good enough for Misato. She still appreciated the dinner and was very nice, but she seems to know another Malaysian restaurant better than this one. I know her taste in food is good because every restaurant she took me to was surprisingly delicious. No exception, each time was an unforgettable exotic food adventure and I love it. But as a Chinese guy, I was confident I’m supposed to know Chinese food better than she does, and Malaysian food has a lot in common with Chinese food. Nonetheless, I embarrassed myself and made a promise to not ever argue with her on any issue of food, even on Chinese food. How could she!
After dinner, it’s about time to see the rooftop movie, I was pretty sure this is not going to be wrong, because I’m always a planner among my friends. Then, just a moment later it was starting to rain slightly and then the rain got heavier. The movie screen was moved into an indoor warehouse where nothing sparkling shining marvelous was in sight, that’s really disappointing. Plus, the movie is pretty difficult, none of us could understand at all. At the end of the day/When all is set down, some how something that was supposed to be a surprise looked more like a series of unfortunate accidents. The schedule of our next date is up for grabs/also awfully uncertain. Just kidding, we had a good time, she is a nice and sweet girl.
